Shakespeare, Howie Morenz and the best homemade peach pie

Posted by NRG SVR in 100 MPG Challenge

Shirley (my host in Mitchell) and I went to Stratford Monday morning, before 8 am. It’s a really beautiful place with a river in the middle, and theatres all over. This is the Shakespeare capital of North America. Joann, Shirley’s daughter, was born here. Joann owns Tartine, a bakery cafe in the Yaletown area of Vancouver.

After Stratford, we returned to Mitchell and went to see if a lady named June was home. June owns a phat red smart apparently - but I didn’t get a chance to meet her. June - if you are reading this - make sure you visit Club smart car if you haven’t already done so.

We then had coffee at Crosswinds - a restaurant that Shirley used to own. She sold it 5 years ago to Val Davis. Val’s daughter Pam works there too - and she knew about the One-Tonne Challenge because she had called the 1-800 number to get the info sent to her.

Here’s Shirley and Val from today:

We then returned back to Shirley’s house so that I could reload the car and carry on to a bbq in London. I presented her with a One-Tonne Challenge brochure as well as a hemptown One-Tonne Challenge t-shirt - as a ‘Thanks for the washing machine’ award. I was presented with a homemade peach pie - which was something else (right Glenn?).

At 11 am, I departed from Mitchell, and made one more brief stop:
