The Birthplace of Confederation

Posted by NRG SVR in 100 MPG Challenge

Sunday morning, I was met by Sarah-Jane Bell, the Public Education and Outreach Coordinator for Climate Change PEI. We went to a nearby restaurant and were joined by Gerald MacDougall, Provincial Climate Change Coordinator for the province.

After breakfast and discussion about PEI issues and successes, we went to City Hall, and were met by Charlottetown’s Deputy Mayor Stu MacFadyen, and Regina Wells, who is part of the Charlottetown Environment Committee. I was welcomed into City Hall, and had a chance to see 150 years of history first hand. Stu and I exchanged gifts.

BTW, Sarah-Jane and Gerald were each driving a hybrid - Sarah-Jane a Honda Civic, and Gerald a Toyota Prius I.

After finishing at City Hall by 9:45 or so, we went up to one of the malls, where some other smart owners were to join us. Two of the three known smart cars on the island soon arrived, both cabriolets! David Daughton (black car) and Debra Wellner (stream green car) both have personalized plates too.

Despite a newspaper article that did not mention the time or place for the public to come and see the hybrids and smart cars, many turned out simply by seeing the vehicles from the street.

A well organized event. Thank you!
